SVKids Update

Hey SV Family,

My name is Christa and I’m the Children’s Minister at Severns Valley. We are so excited to share with you that we are re-launching SVKids starting this Sunday, September 6th. It has been 25 weeks since we last met and we are so ready to gather back together again in just 2 days! Our SVKids team has been working so hard to get everything ready for the children to return in a safe and healthy way.

Brittany, our Preschool Minister has some important information to share so you can be prepared for some of the changes we have made.

Brittany: We cannot wait to see all of the little ones that will be coming on our campus this Sunday. We are accepting all children from Birth through 2nd Grade. 3rd through 5th are still asked to accompany their parents to the Worship Service, but we are working diligently to be able to open their classrooms soon. Another change is that children will only be able to stay for one service, regardless of their age. This is just to make sure children and teachers can stay healthy and follow CDC guidelines.

Christa: We also have a simple registration form to fill out to ensure that your child has a space in their assigned classes. With social distancing guidelines, we are limited on the number of children we can have in our classrooms, so just visit to pre-register your children as well as save a seat for yourself in the Worship Center!

Brittany: After pre-registering, you will get a confirmation email and all that’s left is showing up Sunday! Make sure and bring a mask for yourself and any children that are over the age of 5.

If your family is attending the 9:00 am service, please enter through the doors directly left of the Main Entrance and follow the green signage and arrows to get to the check-in desk. Your child will have their temperature checked and their hands sanitized. Once your child has received their name tag and you have your security sticker, you will drop your child off at the desk with a runner that will take your child to their designated room.

Christa: If your family is attending the 10:45 am service, just come to the SVKids entrance with the covered walk. You will find blue signage and arrows to follow that will get you where you need to go, the check-in procedures are the same as those at 9:00 am. Once you are done dropping off your child, head to the Worship Center and enjoy the service! When it’s time to pick up, just follow the red arrows and head to the middle desk. We will check your security sticker and a runner will bring your child(ren) out to you!

Brittany: Some changes you won’t see, but your child will experience changes inside the SVKids classrooms. There they will find socially distant set-ups in each classroom. There are many other health-focused safety procedures in place, such as each child gets their very own supply bag.

  • Masks are worn by all leaders and volunteers.
  • Advanced sanitizing procedures are in place before the first family arrives!
  • Fresh gloves are used by runners for each new family.
  • Bathrooms are sanitized after every use.
  • Toys are not shared between children or services.
  • Each classroom is only used once per Sunday to allow for deep cleaning.
  •  “Large Group Experience” now happens in the classroom.
  • All common areas are sanitized between first and second service.

Christa: And we even have a new pager system in place to increase communication between classrooms and support staff to make sure every child, every classroom, every teacher has everything they need to share the love of Jesus in the safest but most engaging way possible!

Brittany: All of these changes have been put in place for the safety and security of your children. We LOVE your children and are so blessed to have them as a part of the SVKids family. If you have any questions or concerns, please email our staff at and we will get back with you!

Christa: Pre-registration is open now at, so make sure and check it out!

We hope to see you this Sunday!
