Hey there, Severns Valley Family!

Thank you for joining us on this week’s SV update. There are so many awesome things going on in the month of December and we’re here just to tell you a couple of those things.

First off we are Re-Gathering in-person this weekend! Are you as excited as we are? Because we are thrilled! We are going to have both of our services this weekend, at 9:00 am and 10:45 am. There will be no SVKids activities for the month of December, but we want you to go ahead and save your spot for this weekend. Just go to our website and click the button right on the home page that says Save a Seat.

One of the other exciting things that is happening this Sunday night is we’re going to be having our annual business meeting where we’re going to be talking about our Proposed 2021 Budget. We would love for all church members to be a part of that. It is this Sunday at 5:00 pm so you can just show up. It will be in our old multi-purpose room in the old part of our building.

Everybody’s getting into the Christmas spirit. You can probably see our big Christmas tree back there and one of our favorite things that we do as a church is Christmas Eve. We are right now in a time like none other, having to do things a little bit different, having to think outside of the box and be creative.

So this year we’re going to be doing something different for Christmas Eve. We’re going to have a Christmas Eve online experience. We’re going to be doing that at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm and then it will be available to re-watch the next day, but we want you to make plans to be a part of our family for Christmas Eve. So we won’t be having anything on campus for Christmas this year. It will all be online.

And we’re going to do something else. We love to light the candles for Christmas Eve and we’re still going to do that! So all next week Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:00, we are going to be having candles available for you to come up and get as a family, and also if you’ve got little kids we have a special Christmas craft that we want you to take part of during the Christmas Eve services. Be watching out for more information about that.

We just want to celebrate this awesome Christmas season with our family whether you’ve been a part of our family for two or three weeks or for 20 or 30 years, we’re so excited to celebrate with you.

And Pastor Curtis, this has been such an awesome month already and we’re just a couple of weeks in. Tell us a little bit about where we’re going for the next week.

Well, I’ll tell you what. I’m overwhelmed with joy thinking about Christology every day as I read through Philippians 2:5-11. You remember last Sunday I challenged you to allow an attitude of gratitude to motivate us. Well here’s the beauty about it. As I’m reading Philippians 2 studying verses 7 and 8, I’m noticing that the Apostle Paul is saying that our attitude has always turned to action because that action plan will create a movement and the movement that I’m discovering is a movement of love and joy.

Listen, all of us need hope. And all of us need to experience the wonderful delight of the Christmas season. That means that Jesus Christ came into this world in order for us to see and to experience the love of a Holy God. And so this Sunday, our focus is to talk about the incarnation and the humiliation of Christ. You’re going to discover that when you are geared towards receiving humiliation you might become a conduit for reconciliation. I’ll explain what that means this Sunday, but I want you to pray and to ask God to help you to understand what is incarnation, what does it mean to have a humble and a meek spirit, and how God can use you in the lives of others in order to promote the beauty of Christmas. And the beauty of Christmas is always based on love, joy, and reconciliation.

I’m hoping that you’ll be here this Sunday. I can hardly wait to preach to real people, amen! And so please be prayed up, get your amens ready. We are ready to worship together. I praise God for Pastor Andy for worship arts. We are just ready to do life with you this Sunday, so be ready because we’re in for a treat worshiping God together.

God bless my friends.

Pastor Curtis and Pastor Andy
