Hello Church Family,
We are just two weeks away from Pastor Curtis preaching his first message as the Lead Pastor of Severns Valley. To say we’re excited would be an understatement. We can’t wait for him to get here and to see what God has in store for Severns Valley. You won’t want to miss Nov. 1st. Be sure and make plans to be here in person if you’re able. If not, we will continue to broadcast online and via Cable TV so you won’t miss his first Sunday.
We want to welcome Pastor Curtis, Tracy and the boys well. One way we can do that is by writing them a note of encouragement and to bless them with a gift card. This is a tradition and one that really blesses our new ministers as they transition into ministry here at Severns Valley. Many of you brought notes and cards last week. It’s not too late to bring yours to church. We will be collecting the notes and gift cards and present them to Pastor Curtis and Tracy on Nov. 1st. You can bring them to church on Sunday or to the church office throughout the week. Thank you for helping us to welcome them well.
Another way you can help them become acquainted and familiar with the family of Severns Valley is to become a part of our new Church Directory. We are switching databases and need to update everyone’s information. You can do that by downloading the Church Center app via Google Play or the Apple Store on your smartphone or tablet. You can also access the new church database on your computer by going to severnsvalley.churchcenter.com. There you can make sure all your information is correct and also upload photos of yourself, family members and one of your entire family.
Lastly, we take security very seriously here at Severns Valley. We run background checks on all employees, church leadership and those who work with our students and children. We hire off duty police officers to be on our campus in case there is an emergency. We have dozens of trained security staff present at all services and large events. We have certain protocols in place to make sure our children are safe while under our care.
Recently we have instituted guidelines and procedures to make sure everyone who attends Severns Valley during this pandemic can come and feel safe and protected while attending our worship services. We sanitize and disinfect all areas daily that are being used. We do the same between services on Sunday mornings. We have seating set up to maintain social distancing requirements and we ask everyone to wear masks while on our campus.
Lately, we have noticed many people not wearing their masks correctly or taking them off during worship services. Some of our members who have recently returned to our services have noticed this and informed us they are now afraid to come due to many not wearing or improperly wearing masks. Just as we take all the safety precautions, I mentioned earlier to provide a safe and secure place for people to come and worship, we must do the same in wearing masks during this pandemic. We take great strides to provide a place where anyone and everyone can come to worship our Lord and to hear the lifesaving message of the Gospel. Paul tells the Christians who make up the church of Galatia these words in Gal. 6:9,
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
Let’s not get tired. Let’s keep doing good so all can come and hear the message of Jesus. This is called compassion and Loving People. We love you and can’t wait to worship with you this coming Lord’s Day.
