Greetings on this beautiful Fall day! I love this time of year and to see the beauty of God’s creation. What I love even more is to see the body of Christ coming together to worship and serve in unity. To use the words of the apostle Paul, “Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”
Tuesday’s Senior Adult Gathering was such a blessing! We had 77 in attendance at our first HymnSing. It was so exciting to be back together with our Senior Adults and to sing those great hymns of our faith. I’d like to say thank you to our Worship Arts Team for their help in making this event possible. The good news is that if you weren’t able to attend you can still view it on our Facebook page and YouTube Channel. As of this morning, it had over 800 views on Facebook. Maybe you know someone who would be blessed by sharing it.
How encouraging it is to see the Holy Spirit at work in our church. We are seeing many first time guests and have witnessed two baptisms in recent worship services. This Sunday Dr.Adam Greenway, President of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas will be preaching. You don’t want to miss this opportunity. So don’t forget to Save a Seat.
Our church staff is filled with anticipation for Pastor Curtis and his family to begin their ministry here at Severns Valley. Please be in prayer for them as they make this transition. There are several ways you can be a blessing to them. This Sunday we will have note cards available outside the Worship Center for you to write them a word of encouragement. You can also share a gift card to one of your favorite restaurants or stores. I know that Leslie and I were blessed when you did this for us. Let me encourage you to take a few minutes to go to Church Connect at https://severnsvalley.churchcenter.com/pages/home and upload a photo of you and your family. This will be a tremendous asset to help Pastor Curtis get to know our church family.
Until then let’s remember these words from 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” May God Bless and I hope to see you Sunday.
Pastor Emory
